One of the most well-known contemporary Bulgarian artists Pravdoliub Ivanov is presenting in ATA Center/Institute of Contemporary Art his newest project titled “Existing Objects“. The artist has the unique ability to award new meanings to the ordinary objects from everyday life, to discover the poetics of the found objects and to see the humorous side of the manmade utilitarian environment. The use of familiar objects and their transformation into metaphorical installations has become Parvdoliub Ivanov’s trademark. His delicate interventions in the existence of the objects through changing the initial context where they belong, as well as the newly established relations between the various elements of the exhibition space, are turning the “Existing Objects” into a magnetic environment where every visitor is a discoverer of suggested meanings. In his new show the artist is continuing the exploration of the borders between real life and art while using the means of the computer drawing and photography alongside the actual objects. This is the first one artist exhibition of Pravdoliub Ivanov in Bulgaria after more then 5 years. During this time he has realized numerous projects in Germany, Russia, The Netherlands, the USA, Switzerland, Albania, Italy, Austria. Pravdoliub Ivanov was born in 1964 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He lives and works in Sofia. In 1993 he graduated the Department of Painting in the National Art Academy, Sofia where he now teaches. He works in the field of contemporary art and advertisement for TV.
