Aksinia Peycheva

 

Born 1990 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria. Lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria.

EDUCATION

2019 - PhD from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia.

2017 - Educational program for young artists "Close Encounters - Visual Dialogues / School4artists" of ICA-Sofia.

2015 - Master's degree in Mural Painting, National Academy of Arts.

WORK

The focus of her work is the process of ‘visual translation’ where she explores the possible ways of moving pieces of information between different fields of knowledge – ‘how one or several scientific fields can be combined in order to answer a question only important to art.’ She often collaborates with scientists, and her projects are also accompanied by a theoretical part, the result of a long study on certain topics, which include the topic of the visual translation of music or pain.

2021 - `Tales of the Limit`, curated by Galina Dimitrova and supported by DA Lab, Heerz Tooya Gallery, Veliko Tarnovo;
2019 - `BioReconstruction …(of a future moment)`, created under the mentorship of Nedko Solakov as a part of the scholarship from ‘Cultural Perspectives’ Foundation, presented at ICA- Sofia Gallery and Aether Space;
2018 - ‘Trauma Mapping’, curated by Luchezar Boyadjiev, presented at ICA-Sofia Gallery, supported by Gaudenz Ruf Foundation;
2017 - LUCUS, presented in Kyustendil, Bulgaria, and afterwards in Karlsruhe, Germany.
