A Show without a Title but in the Holiday Spirit
“The winter is banging at the door” and ‘jingle bells-jingle bells’ at every corner – the time has come again for the traditional ICA-Sofia Christmas show – a group display of limited and unlimited by anything editions, unique authors’ works, found objects, renamed things, changed visibilities, augmented realities, reconsidered clichés, materialized metaphors, invented documents, added-on ornamentation, experiments, jokes, poking and teasing – art works with distinctly object and souvenir profile conceived to be desired for the holidays around the house, the garden, the bedroom and most anywhere. Compact, attractive and affordable, these objects are art works and at the same time they function as “Museum souvenirs from the nonexistent Museum of Contemporary Art in Bulgaria”.
As mentioned above, this year the show has no title but a feisty spirit, defined by the participation of more than 40 artists from various generations. They are offering special “products”, some are known and valued, some are new and un closely linked to their individual artistic languages. These are: Aksinia Peicheva, Alexander Kiossev, Alexander Valchev, Boris Missirkov & Georgi Bogdanov, Boryana Boriana Nikolova, Boryana Rossa, Dimitar Solakov, Georgi Rouzhev, Ivan Moudov, Iskra Blagoeva, Kalin Serapionov, Kalina Dimitrova, Kaloyan Iliev Kokimoto, Kiril Kuzmanov Ki Re, Kiril Prashkov, Krassimir Terziev, Lubri Kante, Luchezar Boyadjiev, Mariela Gemisheva, Martin Penev, Nedko Solakov, Oleg олег мавроматти, Plamen Dejanoff, Pravdoliub Ivanov, Radoslav Ninov, Radostin Sedevchev, Raycho Stanev, Rositsa Getsova, Samuil Stoyanov, Sasho Stoitzov, Sophia Grancharova, Stefan Iliev Ivanov, Stefan Nikolaev, Stefania Batoeva, Stela Vasileva, Svetla Gradanska, Veronika Tzekova, Vikenti Komitski, Vitto Valentinov, Yasen Zgurovski, Zara Alexandrova, Zlatin Orlov, Zoran Georgiev.
Many of these authors could be seen right now in various shows in galleries and museum in Bulgaria and around the world. That reinforces the meaning of the long-term ICA-Sofia project “Museum Souvenirs from…” from that nonexistent Museum of Contemporary Art in Bulgaria.
