Long Time No See. Encounters with the Museum on Demand
Museum on Demand, Vienna
20 June 2007 – Thu, 30 August 2007
Curator: Iara Boubnova

The exhibition Long Time No See. Encounters with the Museum on Demand is a special selection of artworks from the collection of the Department for Cultural Affairs of the City of Vienna to be presented in its new home, Museum on Demand, in Felderstrasse 6-8, 1010 Vienna.

The selection presents approximately 60 artists and reflects the long history of the collection with its specific, socially and culturally responsible position. Long Time No See stands for known but sometimes forgotten trends, approaches and personal attitudes of the artists and attempts to rethink and reformulate public collecting of art. It showcases the diversity of artistic ideas, artistic languages and artists’ positions as well as critical trends represented in the collection as they reflect on the current art scene and life in the city.

Long Time No See marks a major change in the perception of the Museum on Demand by the public eye, as it shifts the focus from the archiving of contemporary art to active participation in the complex process of establishing an artistically and culturally relevant reputation.
